Guitar Tabs

(Guitar Tablature)

Though it may look complex, reading guitar tabs is amazingly easy! We do recommend you get a good guitar teacher to help you learn guitar properly. It's also very good to know standard notation as well. Many gifted musicians feel tabs are not perfect, but can be a good learning tool. If you want to learn tablature right away, here's how it's done:

To simplify, we'll use the 4-string bass guitar as example. The tabs are read this way:

G
D
A
E

- These represent your strings. If the letter is different, it means you must tune your guitar to match.

G]--------------8---I
D]-----------7------I
A]---------6--------I
E]---2--------------I

This represents a simple bar of the notes. The numbers represent the fret you play on the strings.
